How to Use the Cheese App

The Cheese app allows you to quickly capture photos and videos, and then review, manage, and share your visual memories.

1. Taking Photos and Videos

• Launch the app: Open the Cheese app from your device's home screen.
• Capture a Photo:
  • Tap the large circular button at the bottom center of the screen.
  • A "Saved" notification will briefly appear at the top left, confirming your photo has been saved.
• Record a Video:
  • Hold down the large circular button at the bottom center of the screen.
  • A "REC" indicator will appear at the top left, signifying recording is in progress.
  • Microphone Access: The first time you record a video, the app will ask for permission to access your microphone. Tap "Allow" to enable sound recording for your videos.
  • Release the button to stop recording.

2. Managing Your Memories

• Accessing Your Memories:
  • After taking a photo or video, or at any time, tap the calendar icon (which might show a number indicating new items) in the top left corner.
  • This will take you to a calendar view.
• Viewing Memories by Date:
  • The calendar shows days with captured memories. Days with memories will have a small image preview and a count (e.g., "+15").
  • Tap on a specific date (e.g., Tuesday, July 1st) to view all memories from that day.
• Reviewing Individual Memories:
  • Once on a specific date, your memories are displayed in a grid.
  • Tap on any image to view it in full screen.
• Deleting Memories:
  • To delete memories, tap the "Delete" icon (a trash can) at the top right of the grid view.
  • Tap the circular icon on each memory you wish to delete. A red border and a checkmark will appear to indicate selection.
  • Once you've selected all items to delete, tap "Delete (X)" (where X is the number of selected items) at the top right.
  • Confirm your action by tapping "Delete" in the pop-up.
• Sharing Your Weekly or Monthly Dump:
  • In the calendar view, you'll see a section titled "Share your weekly or monthly dump" with image collages.
  • Tap the "Share" button below "July" (or the current month) to share a compilation of your memories from that period.
• Saving Memories to Library:
  • After capturing a photo/video, or when viewing a memory, you can save it to your device's photo library. This option is available in the app's settings (see "Settings and Preferences"). After recording a video, you can see a "Save" button at the bottom left. Tapping this will save the current memory to your phone's library.

3. Settings and Preferences

• Accessing Settings:
  • From the calendar view, tap the gear icon (settings) in the top right corner.
• Upgrade to Pro:
  • The "Upgrade to Pro" section is where you can subscribe to premium features.
• Preferences:
  • Show Instructions: Toggle this option ON/OFF to view or hide in-app instructions.
  • Save to Library: Toggle this option ON/OFF to automatically save captured photos and videos to your device's photo library.
• About:
  • How to Use: Tapping this will likely bring up an in-app guide similar to this one.
  • Terms & Privacy: Access the app's Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
• Updates:
  • Check for Updates: Tap this to see if a newer version of the app is available.
• Data:
  • Clear All Data: Use this option to delete all data stored within the app. Be cautious as this will permanently remove your memories from the app.

4. Premium Features (Optional)

• The app offers "Premium Features" for USD 0.99/month.
• These features include:
  • Monthly Cheese Dumps: Get unlimited weekly or monthly dumps.
  • Cloud Backup: Keep your cheese memories safe and synced (coming soon).
• You can start a 7-day free trial before subscribing.
